Atomic layer deposition of aluminum oxide on modified steel substrates

2016

Abstract Al 2 O 3 thin films were grown by atomic layer deposition to thicknesses ranging from 10 to 90 nm on flexible steel substrates at 300 °C using Al(CH 3 ) 3 and H 2 O as precursors. The films grown to thicknesses 9–90 nm covered the rough steel surfaces uniformly, allowing reliable evaluation of their dielectric permittivity and electrical current densities with appreciable contact yield. Mechanical behavior of the coatings was evaluated by nanoindentation. The maximum hardness values of the Al 2 O 3 films on steel reached 12 GPa and the elastic modulus exceeded 280 GPa.

A Generalized Semiempirical Approach to the Modeling of the Optical Band Gap of Ternary Al-(Ga, Nb, Ta, W) Oxides Containing Different Alumina Polymo…

2021

A generalization of the modeling equation of optical band gap values for ternary oxides, as a function of cationic ratio composition, is carried out based on the semiempirical correlation between the differences in the electronegativity of oxygen and the average cationic electronegativity proposed some years ago. In this work, a novel approach is suggested to account for the differences in the band gap values of the different polymorphs of binary oxides as well as for ternary oxides existing in different crystalline structures. A preliminary test on the validity of the proposed modeling equations has been carried out by using the numerous experimental data pertaining to alumina and gallia p…

Luminescence of silica glass containing aluminum oxide

2004

Abstract Optical properties of silica glass with different doping of Al 2 O 3 up to 1.5 mol% were studied. Alumina stimulates creation of a luminescence centers with specific band at 3.3 eV. A new band at 8.2 eV appears in luminescence excitation spectra. There is transport of energy to other luminescence centers associated with an impurity (Ag, Ce) at this energy. Alumina stimulates creation of E′ centers under γ-irradiation beside trapped hole on AlO 4 tetrahedron as well as creation of a silicon related oxygen deficient center (SiODC) under cathodoexcitation. Visually, the samples look inhomogeneous even after γ-irradiation. The explanation could be heterogeneity of the samples. Alumina …

A new 8-oxo-7,8-2 ' deoxyguanosine nanoporous anodic alumina aptasensor for colorectal cancer diagnosis in blood and urine

2021

Many important human diseases, and especially cancer, have been related to the overproduction of 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2 '-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG). This molecule is a product of oxidative stress processes over nucleophilic bases in DNA. In this work, an aptasensor for the rapid, selective and accurate detection of this oncomarker is presented. The aptasensor consists of a nanoporous anodic alumina material loaded with a dye and is functionalized with an aptamer-based "molecular gate". In the presence of target 8-oxo-dG, the capping aptamer displaces from the surface due to the high affinity of the analyte with the capping aptamer, thus inducing delivery of the preloaded fluorescent dye. In co…

Reaktionen an Aluminiumoxiden. 3. Mitt.: Umsetzungen von Propanal und Benzaldehyd an Aluminiumoxid

1973

Reactions on Alumina Oxides The reactions of propanal and benzaldehyde on various alumina oxides were investigated under different conditions. The resulting products were identified by synthesized compounds and TLC and GLC.

One-pot preparation of surface modified boehmite nanoparticles with rare-earth cyclen complexes.

2007

We report on the one-pot synthetic procedure of cyclen derivatives bearing three acetate groups attached on boehmite nanoparticles, the complexing capabilities of these inorganic–organic hybrid materials with rare earth cations, and the behaviour as contrast agents or fluorescence probes. In vitro experimental study of bonding between aluminium oxide ceramics and resin cements

2010

To evaluate bond strengths of different resin cements to two aluminum oxide-based ceramics. Methods: One hundred ten ceramic cylinders were produced and given four different surface treatments. Resin cement cylinders were then bonded to the ceramic cylinders using different resin cements and the bond strength was determined by shear testing to the breaking point. We were thus able to obtain results for the different combinations of porcelain, surface treatments and cements. All data was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test for more than two independent samples and the Bonferroni correction applied (a=0.01). An optical microscopy study was carried out to analyze the type of failure, and an…

Resistance to bond degradation between dual-cure resin cements and pre-treated sintered CAD-CAM dental ceramics

2012

Objective: To evaluate the bond stability of resin cements when luted to glass-reinforced alumina and zirconia CAD/CAM dental ceramics. Study design: Eighteen glass-infiltrated alumina and eighteen densely sintered zirconia blocks were randomly conditioned as follows: Group 1: No treatment; Group 2: Sandblasting (125 µm Al2O3-particles); and Group 3: Silica-coating (50 µm silica-modified Al2O3-particles). Composite samples were randomly bonded to the pre-treated ceramic surfaces using different resin cements: Subgroup 1: Clearfil Esthetic Cement (CEC); Subgroup 2: RelyX Unicem (RXU); and Subgroup 3: Calibra (CAL). After 24 h, bonded specimens were cut into 1 ± 0.1 mm2 sticks. One-half of th…

Direct atomic layer deposition of ultrathin aluminium oxide on monolayer $MoS_2$ exfoliated on gold: the role of the substrate

2021

In this paper we demonstrated the thermal Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) growth at 250 {\deg}C of highly homogeneous and ultra-thin ($\approx$ 3.6 nm) $Al_2O_3$ films with excellent insulating properties directly onto a monolayer (1L) $MoS_2$ membrane exfoliated on gold. Differently than in the case of 1L $MoS_2$ supported by a common insulating substrate ($Al_2O_3/Si$), a better nucleation process of the high-k film was observed on the 1L $MoS_2/Au$ system since the ALD early stages. Atomic force microscopy analyses showed a $\approx 50\%$ $Al_2O_3$ surface coverage just after 10 ALD cycles, its increasing up to $>90\%$ (after 40 cycles), and an uniform $\approx$ 3.6 nm film, after 80 cycle…

In vitro comparison of the retention capacity of new aesthetic brackets.

1999

Tensile bond strength and bond failure location were evaluated in vitro for two types of aesthetic brackets (non-silanated ceramic, polycarbonate) and one stainless steel bracket, using bovine teeth as the substrate and diacrylate resin as the adhesive. The results show that metallic bracket had the highest bond strength (13.21 N) followed by the new plastic bracket (12.01 N), which does not require the use of a primer. The non-silanated ceramic bracket produced the lowest bond strength (8.88 N). Bond failures occurred mainly between bracket and cement, although a small percentage occurred between the enamel-cement interface with the metal and plastic brackets and within the cement for the …
